Jesus said: “Come follow me’ (Matt 4:19)
This page is for those who have decided to follow Jesus and to help you take the next steps: If you have yet to make that decision, click here first.
You may have arrived at this page after responding to the good news of Jesus at one of our events, a friend’s recommendation, or searching online, etc., whatever the circumstances, we want to say right from the start: Following Jesus is the best decision you will ever make in your life. Congratulations!
Since Crown Jesus Ministries was established in 1999, we have had the most incredible privilege of helping thousands of people make that decision. They have started their journey from all walks of life. Young, old, rich, poor, people with no faith background, people from other faiths, and those who have lost their faith. Whatever your journey in life so far, you are now part of the family of God (John 1:12)
Secondly, your decision is much more than a fresh start, and it is not about suddenly needing to follow a list of rules and regulations. It is the beginning of a new relationship with God, and that relationship is made possible because of Jesus (John 14:6)
Thirdly, although you have responded and decided to follow Jesus, it is also essential to understand that He has also chosen you! (1 Peter 2:9) It is only through the grace and mercy of God that Jesus saves us and not because of our goodness. (Eph 2:8-9)
We want to set you up for success, to grow in faith, to deepen your relationship with God and for His Holy Spirit to fill you and equip you. The key to that is connecting with a local life-giving Church. No amount of notes/advice on a page can replace the listening, learning, caring, sharing, loving faith community. Right at the beginning of Jesus’ ministry on earth and into the book of Acts, the story of Jesus’ followers was built around a community of faith and action.
Becoming a follower of Jesus is only the beginning of an exciting journey. Jesus describes this moment as being ‘born again’ (John 3:3). It means you now have a personal relationship with God as your heavenly Father.
As a new follower of Jesus, it’s essential to understand that you are not alone; God has sent his Holy Spirit to be our guide, comforter, and helper (John 14 -16). He will help you live each day, enable you to grow in faith and equip you with His power.
Here are 5 STEPS that will help you get started on the journey. These are daily steps that will put momentum and direction into your life.
Before we look at them, let us pray for you:
‘Father God, thank you for our new brother/sister in Christ. We ask that your Holy Spirit would meet them right now, to teach them, equip them and walk with them through these 5 steps in Jesus’ name, Amen.’

Study the Bible
Psalm 119 v 105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my path.
This verse tells us that the Bible acts as our guide. It teaches us lessons, shares stories, and ultimately reveals God’s love for us. The Bible is the primary way God communicates with us, and therefore, we must read it every day.
Together
Hebrews 10 v 25 ‘let us not give up meeting together…’
When you become a Christian, you become part of the family of God.
You are adopted into His family and now have millions of brothers and sisters around the world! This family is often called the church. It is not so much a building but a community that is worshipping, learning and serving together.
Don’t try to live out your faith alone. Connect with a local church.
Evangelism
Matthew 28 v 19-20 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations”
Jesus has called each of us to share Jesus with others. We call this evangelism. It simply means to communicate the good news of who Jesus is and invite others to respond. As Christians, we should want to tell others and not keep it to ourselves. If we believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven, let’s not keep it a secret.
Prayer
2 Chronicles 7 V 14 ‘If my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray…’
Think for a moment about the different relationships you have in your life. What is one of the most important things that makes those relationships work? Communication. Prayer is the way we communicate with God. When we pray, it’s a time to talk to God, but also a time to consider what He wants to say to us.
Serve
1 Peter 4 v 10 ‘Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others.’
The story of Jesus is one of a Servant King. Reading over the Gospels, you will see Jesus feeding the hungry, healing the sick, comforting others, and even washing the disciples’ feet.
In the same way, we are to express God’s love by serving others, both in the church family and our communities.
